Chip programming industry leader-Oncor Technology has recently released the latest programming software update and a list of newly supported chip models. Among them, the programming of TI Texas Instruments TMS320F2838x series 32-bit microcontroller TMS320F28384SZWT has been programmed by Oncor's general purpose programming. Supported by the recording platform AP8000.


The TMS320F2838x is a device in the C2000™ family of real-time microcontrollers, a family of scalable, ultra-low latency devices designed to improve the efficiency of power electronics including, but not limited to: high power density, high switching frequency, and support for the use of GaN and SiC technology.


Optimized for processing, sensing and actuation, the C2000™ 32-bit microcontroller is designed to enhance real-time control applications such as industrial motor drives, photovoltaic inverters and digital power supplies, electric vehicles and transportation, motor control, and sensing and signal processing closed-loop performance.


Oncor's AP8000 is specially designed for the programming requirements of the C2000 series, and has been enhanced in programming stability and chip ESD protection. It is the best mass-produced programming device for the C2000 series DSP. Oncor is also an official TI Recommended third-party burning partners.

The real-time control subsystem is based on TI's 32-bit C28x DSP cores, which provide 200MHz of signal processing performance per core for floating-point or fixed-point code running from on-chip flash or SRAM. The Trigonometric Accelerator (TMU) and VCRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) extended instruction set further enhances the performance of the C28x CPU, thereby speeding up key commonly used algorithms for real-time control systems. Implements IEEE double-precision 64-bit floating-point math using the extended instruction set. Finally, the Control Law Accelerator (CLA) enables an additional 200MHz of independent processing power per core.


The device also includes a standalone Connection Manager (CM), which is based on an ARM Cortex-M4 processor and runs at 125MHz. With its own dedicated flash and SRAM, the CM can control the interface to and from the TMS320F2838x completely independently, giving the C28x DSP more bandwidth to focus on real-time control.


High-performance analog blocks are tightly integrated with the processing unit and control unit to provide outstanding real-time signal chain performance. Thirty-two frequency-independent PWMs control multiple power stages from three-phase inverters to advanced multi-level power topologies.


By adding Configurable Logic Blocks (CLBs), users can add custom logic and integrate FPGA-like functionality into the C2000 real-time MCU.


In the C2000 real-time MCU, the EtherCAT slave controller is added for the first time, as well as other common protocols in the industry (for example, CAN-FD and USB2.0). The Fast Serial Interface (FSI) enables up to 200Mbps communication across isolation boundaries.

The AP8000 Universal Programmer independently developed by ACROVIEW Technology includes three parts: the host, the bottom plate, and the adapter seat.

The host supports USB and NET connections, allowing multiple programmers to be networked to achieve the purpose of simultaneously controlling multiple programmers and burning at the same time. The built-in chip safety protection circuit ensures that even if the chip is reversed or short-circuited due to other reasons, it can be detected immediately and power off to ensure the safety of the chip and the programmer. Embedded high-speed FPGA greatly accelerates data transmission and processing. There is an SD card slot on the back of the host. Put the project file created by the PC software in the root directory of the SD card and insert it into the card slot. Through the buttons on the programmer, the project file can be selected, loaded, and burned, etc. Command, in order to achieve the purpose of being able to operate without the PC, which greatly reduces the cost of PC hardware configuration, and is convenient and quick to match the working environment.


AP8000 makes the host more expandable by adding an adapter board to the base plate. At present, it has supported devices produced by all mainstream semiconductor manufacturers, including TI, ST, MicroChip, Atmel, Hynix, Macronix, Micron, Samsung, Toshiba, etc. The supported device types are NAND, NOR, MCU, CPLD, FPGA, EMMC, etc., and file formats including Intel Hex, Motorola S, Binary, POF, etc. are supported.
